  • The last few weeks have been interesting to say the least. With all the shut downs and Corona cases too close to home...we have still been #hustling to try to keep up with project pivots, helping others pivot, keeping the kid occupied with self-inflicted spelling tests, and trying to build an impossible house of cards...there definitely has not been much #downtime here at the home front/office and I have not yet been able to reorganize my closets. - - - - - - #prepandemic I ordered a bunch of fun reading materials...maybe soon I will get to dig in. But ever so #gratefulthankfulblessed to have my mind and days be filled with the opportunity to #helpothers because without that, I’d prob still not have an organized closet and just be a #hotmess 🤪 - - - - - - What goodies do you have waiting for you to dig in to? And do you have something I MUST read or listen to? A friend of mine mentioned @the.middle.finger.project is a MUST READ...so I just ordered it today. 💥

  • Celebrating my two fave women in the world today on #internationalwomensday my mom and my sister @papertechie - - - My mom was one of the first in her family of 10 children to graduate from school as a nurse. 👩🏻‍🎓 She spent many years caring for those who were dying of terminal illnesses and continued her studies even later in life to better herself for her and our family. She continues to care for those who need her and, of course, she has been a huge support and inspiration for me as a little girl growing up. I remember when people would ask “what my dad did for a living” and I would always start with... “well, my MOM is a nurse and my dad is in the Air Force!” I was always so proud and still am today. She’s also an avid gardener... she just loooves to take care of things 💕👩🏽‍🌾 - - - - - And my sister? Well shoot, she’s such an amazing woman with the biggest heart. Full Scholarship earner to Penn State Main Campus for Computer Science /Technology. Worked for the US Government with Security clearances on International Banking Programs....She has done so much to not only help me and WSD, but she has traveled the world ✈️🛶⛰ and found the most creative ways to help those who are less fortunate than we. 🙌🏼🙌🏼 And she’s always looking for ways to help us bake a little more give-back into all that we do. She’s kick ass with a side of sass. Gotta love her for it all! 💕 - - - - - Of course, we are ever so thankful every day for the amazing females we get to work with on a daily basis...and for the network of bad ass business besties we have been blessed with along this journey... but my mom and sister will always be my two biggest inspirations! 🥰
  • On a personal note... I had to re-up on my fitness game this year. I worked out consistently for about 5 years, but when we had to unexpectedly put our Abby dog to sleep (Thanksgiving 2018)...I just fell off the wagon during 2019. 🐶🌈😭 I can’t really explain it other than I just wrapped myself up in everything else and let my fitness slide. But I definitely know there was a direct correlation with missing her and lacking the care for myself. ☹️ - - - - - But I’ve been back ON IT! 💪🏼💪🏼 I’m a die hard @lesmillsondemand fan and I do a mix of Pump and Combat and I looove it. Between the endorphins, awesome music, and motivational messages...my start to 2020 has been rockin! - - - - - - You know, this entrepreneurial game is no joke. You have to take care of yourself to take care of yo SELF! 🙅🏻‍♀️🙅🏻‍♀️ - - - - - So what are you doing to take care of you? It does not have to be as extreme as squats and kicks. Just something that makes you feel alive. 💫💫
  • I take thousands of inspiration photos every year, but I fail to truly document them. They stay tucked away in my 256G iPhone, and then get uploaded to my cloud where I do an endless scroll when I need inspiration. 😍😍⠀ ⠀ I take pics or screenshots of nature, artwork, books, layouts, furnishings, housewares, clothes, shoes, textures, patterns, you name it! So in the effort to share more of what inspires me and makes me tick... here is a #TBT to artwork from a holiday party last December. ⠀ ⠀ If you haven’t noticed...I love color...so naturally, this caught my eye...along with the fact that I love to laugh, so I thought it was really cute...and to top it off, those that reeeeally know me...know I also like to make people laugh. 🤣 ⠀ ⠀ What do you do for inspiration?
  • When WSD started about 18 years ago, the entire business was run off of an Excel spreadsheet. Not the most efficient way to track multiple clients, deadlines, billing, contracts, and more.⁠⠀🤦🏻‍♀️ ⁠⠀ Over the years, we have spent a lot of time finessing our onboarding process for our clients, and are very proud of how far we have come. ⁠🤓 ⁠⠀ These tools have become a huge part of our success to keep projects organized and on track. Each project has many moving parts, and there are also different team members or contractors for different tasks. These tools help us to communicate with each other, and with our clients in an efficient and secure way. ⁠✔️✔️✔️ ⁠⠀ We use these tools to share proposals, billing, project tasks, timelines, passwords, explainer videos, share content, and more. ⁠🧾💸📆📝🔐 ⁠⠀ It took some time to figure out how we wanted all of these tools to mesh together, and as we grow, we are continuing to refine how we use them to create an even better experience for our clients. ⁠✨💫 ⁠⠀ These are just a few of our favorite business tools.   • We get to work with the most amazing humans. 💫✨💫 - - - - Meet @sicolaelliott She is a true creator! When we met, she had received one of the decks we had designed for another client. She wanted to create one too for young girls as a way to provide empowering messages to inspire them throughout their teenage years. @myteenageheartco She created all the artwork for that deck and in doing so, started to flourish as an amazing artist! 👩🏽‍🎨 - - - - She was already a writer, but in the midst of this creative energy, she wrote her memoir “Blank Canvas” and created all the artwork found within the pages. Sicola’s inspiring story takes you through love, life, and loss. It will encourage you to push past being ordinary...and in your own way...say “F*ck it!   • Meet "The OG of WSD" ha! My sister @papertechie found this gem when she was digging through things back at our parent's house this past summer. ⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ While, sure...this is such a cute pic of Moi! 😉😉 I sure miss that tan I had going on there, and the little flippies in my hair...if you swipe left 👈🏼👈🏼you will see the rest of this pic and what we call one of my first attempts at a "mood board". 🌸🌞❄️🍁🤣⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ Ever since I was little, I loved color...and while other little girls carried lip gloss and mirrors in their little plastic purses, I never left home without my stash of crayons, paper, and stickers. Heck, even to this day I do not leave house without multiple highlighters, pens, post-its, and markers...⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ I recently found some more oldies but goodies as we were cleaning out our basement this weekend - I CANNOT wait to share those! Soon...soon...So crazy to see how our past creates our future...its kind of magical.⁠💫✨ ⁠⠀ So how about you - what are you doing today, that you either dreamed about when you were a kid, or when you look back, you are surprised to see the synchronicities with what you do now? OR...maybe there was always something you wanted to do...that you just need to find a way to make it happen? Do tell! ⁠⠀
  • When I was younger I was a bit of a wallflower. I would sit back and observe until I felt comfortable enough to participate or join in. I had this fear that I would not say the coolest thing and I already knew I was definitley NOT the most fashionable...so I just kept to myself. Because of this awkward phase, people tended to look past me which just added to my keeping to myself. ⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ I may have outgrown those awkward tendencies from my younger years, but it is still a huge part of how I function as an entrepreneur. ⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ I love being observant and a good listener. Asking lots of questions and learning about our clients is something that I truly enjoy. My own experiences in feeling like I had not been seen or heard have really given me the tools to truly understand our clients on a level that goes deeper than just words. I can usually feel, and visually "see" what they need, or are missing. ⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ These skills have helped me in my pursuit of individualized design solutions and, while I used to fear speaking up and being seen myself, they have also brought me to where I am today. ⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ My work ethic and observation skills aide in my ability to push through and bring my company to profitability. I love what we do here at WSD and I am so thankful to continue to challenge myself each day...even as I press publish on this post. Sometimes what scares us, can become the key to our success. ⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ What negatives have you gone through and turned into a positive?
