  • I've been following the @jj.virgin diet for the last 24 days and have cut out gluten, dairy, eggs, soy, peanuts, corn, and sugar. 🙊🙊⠀ ⠀ In that time, I traveled from NY to San Francisco for a business conference, then back to NY and over to Atlantic City to celebrate my 19th Anniversary with my husband, and then road-tripped it to Harrisburg to pick up my son (he was in Pittsburgh for a few weeks with family) and then on back to NY. (A full 8 days of travel) ✈️🎡🚘⠀ ⠀ When traveling, I usually pick up a few lbs due to the air travel, poor eats and lack of sleep...BUT NOT THIS TIME! ⠀ ⠀ I made a plan every day and stuck to it as best as I could. I did have a touch of dairy in there while in AC, but for the most part, I have been right on track. ☑️☑️⠀ ⠀ I had a support system to keep me motivated...and what is interesting is...I have tried the "eat clean" lifestyle before, but I still ate egg whites, greek yogurt, and peanuts...and I would S T R U G G L E with it...meaning... I would feel like I was starving myself, I would not see any movement on the scale, and I always felt like I was failing. ⠀ ⠀ But this time...I removed all of that stuff and instead of it feeling like a struggle...it felt GOOD! Like - I feel like this is how I (personally) am supposed to be eating, and I actually feel more in CONTROL. 🙌🏼🙌🏼⠀ ⠀ I even added broccoli to my morning shakes (what!) and I LOVE IT! ha 🥦🥦⠀ ⠀ Anyway - I am almost feeling so good that I do not want to muck it up by adding things back in, so I am going to just keep planning my days, and stay on track as closely as I can...because it feels good. 💪🏼💪🏼⠀ ⠀ When looking back at why this is working...I can see that I work best with a plan, and a support system...just like in business...if you do not track it, you will not see the progress. I am looking forward to seeing where this takes me! 📈🗓⠀ ⠀ So, if you are reading this and you have experience in this type of lifestyle...I'd love to hear your tips to keep it interesting. ⠀ ⠀ What is your favorite plant-based protein shake that fits into this protocol?   • "Do something today that your future self will thank you for."⁠ ⁠ #keepingitreal This was a tough weekend for me as a small business owner. If you are anything like me, you put all of your heart and soul into your business...and some days you are riding the good wave, and some days you wish could have gone better.⁠ ⁠ So today...as I make my plan for the week ahead, I am recommitting myself to my business...remembering that this is a marathon and not a sprint...that what I have been working towards the last few months will, in fact, take flight, and that my recommitment today will DEFINITELY be something I am thankful for in the future.⁠ ⁠ So how about you?   • #WayBackWednesday #FWClassicinAspen is right around the corner and my feed has been flooded with hype for 2019! Seeing all of the posts reminded me of the vintage flip book VIP invite that I created for the event a few years back. ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ When I worked at Food & Wine Magazine, the Marketing Art Department was THE. PLACE. TO. BE! They were in charge of creating all the amazing events that the Magazine put on each year. One of those events is the infamous Food & Wine Classic in Aspen. Every Father's Day weekend this event takes over Aspen and brings in the best of the best in the Food Industry along with new vendors, new events, and (always) new adventures for the staff and attendees. ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ Prior to working at the Mag, I had NO. IDEA. what went into the events that they put on every year - I think there were @ 25+ when I was there. All different sizes. All different locations. The Art Department was in charge of making them ALL look good. The team that ran these events was/IS top-notch and I am so thankful to have learned from the best. ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ No napkin was left unbranded. No menu went without a frame, and no two events EVER looked the same!⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ Each year the Art Department designed several VIP invites where one would get selected to be produced to be sent out to all the VIP invitees..and when I was there, I was lucky to have mine selected. ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ I created a Vintage Flip Book that showed our time-lapse of the tents being put up for the Grand Tasting Pavillion. Each flip book was sent in a box filled with newspaper strips and was personalized for each recipient. When they opened the box, they received a handwritten card and the flip book was placed underneath. ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ The flipbook was housed in a vintage style wrap with thumb holes so the flipbook could be pulled out. ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ Once you flip through it - you can see the tents raising on the bottom, the sky going from dawn to dusk...and a welcome message appeared in the sky. ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ I still have a few in my office...those were definitely #funtimes ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ If you happened to receive one of these, I'd LOVE for you to say HI!
